Five stars simply bc it exceeded my expectations. First off, I'm from New Hampshire and was curious about the Savannah/Charleston area so I booked a quick getaway trip to check it all out. So needless to say I was going out on a limb by picking this spot for some southern home cooking. When I first pulled up to the building I could see that it was basically a house with an extension which was the restaurant. In fact, I didn't even think it was a restaurant! They opened at 11 and I got there for about 11:30 and there were only maybe 2 cars (huge F250s) in the lot and to be honest, I was wondering if I was going to get booted for looking like a tourist. BUT, I saw some reviews where people said it was good so I went in. And I am so happy that I did, it was everything that it could've been and more. You can probably get better southern cooking else where but if you're looking to have something different and want to have a feeling of community and you come from a world where TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays and Outback are your typical meals, go for this place. The food was good: fried chicken and collard greens, as much sweet tea as your teeth (and your heart) will allow and the deserts were home baked and the staff was awesome. Not to mention, about 5/10 mins after I got in, I looked up from my plate and the entire town was walking in. It reminded me of every movie or tv show where the characters all know each other and everyone was just happy to be alive. In all honesty I'm moved by the experience since I have become complacent with what life is now in a more populous area. This reminded me that life isn't all like I see it in my daily life. This was an experience bigger than food, it reminded me about what's important and what doesn't matter. Again, if your looking for something totally unexpected compared to your fine dining experiences in busy areas, seek this place out. It's truly an experience that you'll never forget!
This is indeed a hidden treat for anyone who loves Southern BBQ, hash, rice, fried chicken and all the trimmings including tea and dessert. All you can eat! Why mustard base BBQ of course! VERY clean, VERY friendly was even greeted at the door by the owner. Ya'll come serve yourself to the buffet!
The friendliest people own this restaurant. They are cautious when running their establishment by following social distance guidelines so that you can go in and enjoy a good meal without worrying. Great job!

Dropped by this hidden gem on my way to Jacksonville, Florida. Very homey establishment. Super clean. The folks are nice and friendly. Bbq, rice, and hash are good, but the fried chicken, collard greens, and homemade cookies are Fantastic! We will definitely stop by on our next trip through. 4 Stars!
My friend and I drove all the way from Columbia to try Lester's. I'm getting married in Hampton and there aren't many restaurants to choose from in that area that caters. But omg Lester's! Though I drive down a skeptic...I drove home a believer! This place is SO DELICIOUS! True southern comfort food to its core. The staff is so friendly! And there's so much to choose from on the buffet. I can't wait for all of my out of state family and friends to try Lester's at my wedding!
